If you work in a library where the books and photos are all about climbing, and the library serves a larger organization which is all about climbing, then it seems logical that the best way to spend a staff development day is to tack a note on the door that says “gone climbing” and head out to the local crag. The weather was beautiful, the people I work with are great, and I only humiliated myself a little bit by not finishing my second climb – although I thought I actually did pretty well for not having climbed in 2 years. We’ve now got a rope set up in the library for folks to practice their knots. And I’ve got the climbing jones again.
I think I like my job.
